Live Water Luau

Author: Rachel Elena Bessman

Mark your calendars for May 6th, 2022! Live Water Foundation will be hosting our first ever Live Water Luau at the Historic Charles Carroll House & Gardens in Annapolis, Maryland. This will be our largest fundraising event yet and is open to the public, with numerous sponsorship opportunities available. VIPs get in early for a happy hour starting at 5:00 PM, and doors officially open at 6:00 PM.

Live Water Foundation President and Co-Founder Brian Meyer’s love of the water was first cultivated during his four years as a student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The culture and tradition of the Hawaiian lifestyle inspired him to create the Live Water Foundation, so it is only fitting that our first function of this size honors that legacy with a Luau!

Before 1819, Luau’s were known by their ancient Hawaiian name ‘aha’aina; aha translating to “gathering” and aina to “meal.” These gatherings were meant to celebrate events in the community, such as a new canoe launching, a battle victory, or a notable achievement. The ‘aha’aina was also a way to honor Hawaiian Gods. The Luau we know today is only a slight variation on the ‘aha’aina of old, but many of the dishes and traditions have carried on.

The Live Water Luau is how our foundation wants to kick off the year supporting our mission. Our (open) Tiki bar will feature specialty Hawaiian-themed drinks, like Mai Tai and Blue Hawaii, along with delicious Hawaiian food. There’s no dress code, but you can expect to see us in our favorite Hawaiian shirts, and we encourage you to do the same! In addition to delectable food and drinks, we’ll also be playing casino games like blackjack, poker, and more! While live music will provide a bright and lively ambiance, we want guests to mingle and chat, so join us at our after party to dance the night away at our favorite local spot that we will announce in January.

Each dollar we raise means another chance to heal and inspire growth on the water for an individual. While we celebrate these victories, we also want to leverage our digital presence and resources to celebrate sponsors and partners.

Early sponsors will receive promotion from the Live Water Foundation on our platform in anticipation of the event. Included are a social media campaign to announce your sponsorship, weekly advertising in Naptown Scoop (8k+ subscribers), and an exclusive blog highlighting your company showcased on the Live Water Foundation website. As we build excitement around the event and what it represents to our community, we want to turn attention to those who make it possible.

Sponsorship opportunities come with tickets and playing chips for our casino games & raffle. Cashing out $10,000 in playing chips equates to 1 raffle ticket. Bring the office card shark to maximize the chances your business takes home the prize!

During the event, sponsors at our highest levels will have a chance to speak on stage about their support of Live Water Foundation and what it means to their business to get involved in the community. A media team will be on-site to capture photos and video; to create an event highlight. We will feature your business’ participation.

We’ll be setting the course for our programmatic season with fun, festivities, and community celebration at our Luau. We look forward to clinking glasses, breaking bread, and hitting the dance floor with our sponsors, partners, volunteers, and Live Water ohana. Tickets go on sale in January! Stay tuned to our social media channels and newsletter for updates.
